I grew up in a small fishing village on the midcoast of Maine. I often explored my rural surroundings and observed the frequent wild life whether it be from a boat following an island shore or a tree on the perimeter of a field. Being from a place abundant with resources, I learned to appreciate the products of the natural world and the work involved with benefitting from these products.
I worked on a lobster wharf for a chunk of my teenage years picking lobsters, shoveling bait, shucking oysters and hauling crates. Along with the wharf I mowed many lawns until I found a job that satisfied my creative and physical interests. The job that satisfied my needs was the construction of timber frame buildings with a man named Michael Alderson who specializes in salvaging and restoring old buildings. The job kind of fell into my lap when my parents wanted to build a barn and I have been working with him ever since during the summer months.
As Fall comes around I am a full time student at the University of Maine in Orono where I study New Media and Spanish. I enjoy working with videos and photography and I love to travel. All of these things have influenced my learning decisions.
