My Food Philosophy

FOOD

I live off of food.

Our society and economy is reliant on food products in many ways.

Food brings my family together.

My food consumption has been developed and changed since I started eating.

1.) My family ate dinner and breakfast together nearly every day when I was growing up. My mother and father would cook dinner and I would usually make sides, like salads, with my brother. For school lunches my mother would make me a sandwich every day.

2.) Both my parents shopped for the food we ate. My mother also grew a lot of different vegetables and produce in her garden, which went into many of our meals. I contributed by gathering items in the garden and helping create meals.

3.) We never really made celebrations around food, but we always appreciated what we were eating and where it came from. Some meals were enjoyed more than others.

4.) I enjoy eating because it makes me feel revived, but it also is a delightful way to be social and creative with other people.

5.) I wouldn’t say I have a favorite food, but I love Italian cuisine because of the rich sauces and hardy creations.

6.) Our relationship to food is important because it is our way of staying alive, not necessarily only in  the sense of death, but also in the sense of spirituality and having a clear mind. Food is one of our major links to the environment, and knowing where our food came from is important.

7.) I try to buy my food local and if not I make sure it is organic or free trade, but there are always the moments I splurge on some gross packaged product that satisfies my taste buds.
