The Alberta Tar Sands is … Mordor?

This an indirect way of using new media ( a popular film in this case) to spread awareness of environmental issues. The Tar Sands are being destructed and this was a major way of approaching the situation. The willingness of the director of the Lord of the Rings to put himself out there for the greater good makes me feel better about people being famous.
